Hi there! I'm Simone, an APA Titled Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist, APA Titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, Strength and Conditioning Coach, and founder of The Pole Physio. I started pole dance in 2016, and fell in love with the physical challenge it provided to my body in the art form of flexibility, strength and movement flow.

A year into my pole journey I began to take notice of the lack of injury guidance and information out there for aerialists. And then I started to notice the injuries pile up. The pole and aerial apparatus require completely different demands of the body than any other sport out there. So very few health professionals understand the level of detail required to rehabilitate these injuries and the mechanics to reduce the risk of them occurring in the first place.

For 2 years I tried to keep my pole and physio work separate. But I couldn’t sit idle, & watch my classmates get injured and not rehabilitated correctly. So then I began treating pole dancers from my local studio and started to see a huge change in the way these dancer’s viewed and managed their bodies when it came to exercise. Their injury rate dropped & pole performance significantly improved. They started smashing pole goals left, right & centre.

But I wanted to not just make a small change in the way pole dancers and aerialists approach these sports, I wanted a platform where I could help the greater community. And hence The Pole Physio was born.

The Pole Physio is here to service the aerial community with free to access informative blogs posted found under the blog tab.

And it’s through these blogs I hope to inspire YOU.

My mission is to educate pole dancers and aerialists worldwide in ways on how to strengthen their body to nail a trick, correctly treat any injury, return to pole after an injury safely, and reduce the chance of these injuries occurring in the first place. My main goal is to decrease the need of you to see me (or any other allied health professional for that matter) from an injury. And I’m a strong believer that education is the key.

However there will come a time in an athlete’s life that they will need to see a Physiotherapist, so online appointments are available for Pole Dancers and Aerialists from all over the world and can be booked via my ‘Book an Appointment’ page. These sessions run the exact same way as they would if we were face to face. A thorough Physio assessment is undertaken, and a diagnosis and treatment plan provided. In these sessions I will provide you with all the knowledge you need to rehabilitate your injury and smash your nemesis trick.  I also offer tailored strength & conditioning programs for anyone working towards a specific trick and finding they are not making any progress.

So have a look around the site, make sure you sign up to our newsletter to stay notified on any blog drops and any major upcoming project announcements.

Also make sure you head to @thepole.physio on Instagram and @pole.physio on Facebook to get access to some amazing tricks, tips & strengthening exercises posted daily.

Until next time, train safe.
